About the author

Born in 1958, Anne Blonstein left England in 1983 to pursue a career in plant genetics, but since 1996 has worked as a freelance writer, translator and editor. She currently divides her time between Basel and Amsterdam.

The author of three full-length collections (the blue pearl, Salt, 2003; worked on screen, Poetry Salzburg, 2005; the butterflies and the burnings, dusie press, 2007) and four chapbooks, Anne Blonstein has also collaborated on projects with the Swiss composers Mela Meierhans and Margrit Schenker. A recording of "prelude and echo" by Mela Meierhans, a translation/setting of five pages from the blue pearl performed by the experimental jazz ensemble Quartet Noir, was released on CD in 2006 (Mela Meierhans MGB CTS-M 100).
