About the author

Claire Crowther worked as a consumer journalist, editor and communications director until recently, when she received a bursary from Kingston-upon-Thames University to complete a long poem project, which explores the conflicts between the cultural expectations and real lives of twentieth-century grandmothers. (An excerpt from this appeared in Shearsman magazine, issue 67/68 in 2006. The online version can be found here.) This project has now been completed, and will be published by Shearsman in 2009 as The Clockwork Gift.

Claire Crowther lives in the West Country with her partner, a solar cell physicist.
