About the author
Claire Crowther worked as a consumer journalist, editor and communications director until recently, when she received a bursary from Kingston-upon-Thames University to complete a long poem project: 'The Herebefore' explores the conflicts between the cultural expectations and real lives of twentieth-century grandmothers. (An excerpt from this long poem appeared in Shearsman magazine, issue 67/68 in 2006. The online version can be found here.)
Claire Crowther lives in the West Country with her partner, a solar cell physicist.
Stretch of Closures is Claire Crowther’s first collection. Her poems have previously appeared in Shearsman, TLS, Poetry Review, Ambit, PN Review, Obsessed with Pipework, Poetry Wales, Poetry Salzburg Review and other UK and North American journals. Her pamphlet Glass Harmonica was published in 2003 by Flarestack.
