About the author
Although Anna Glazova has spent the larger half of her life living in Germany and the United States, she writes in her native Russian. Her first book of poems was published in 2003 (Moscow, OGI). She is currently working on a new book of poems under the title of Loop. Unhalved. which will be published in Moscow in 2008. The collection that will appear with Shearsman is a cross-section of Glazova's lyrical texts from over seven years. The translations have been completed by Anna Khasin in collaboration, and something as close to restless understanding with the author as such a relationship permits.
Currently, Anna Glazova is completing her dissertation, Counter-Quotation: The Defiance of Poetic Tradition in Paul Celan and Osip Mandelstam, in the Comparative Literature Studies Program at Northwestern University (Evanston). Her interest in languages prompted her to translate into Russian works by two prominent figures of European Modernism, Robert Walser and Unica Zürn. She has also contributed to the translation of an anthology of New Zealand poetry.
