Books Home Page
Shearsman Books was founded in 1982, just a few months after Shearsman magazine, in order to offer collections to authors involved with the magazine. The press geared up substantially with a shift to short-run digital and print-on-demand production for most titles in 2003. In 2004 we published 18 new titles, then 24 in 2005, 23 in 2006, 42 in 2007, 60 in 2008, 63 in 2009, 58 in 2010, 48 in 2011 and more than 60 volumes in each of 2012 and 2013. Starting from January 2014, there will be a more measured publication schedule, but we still expect to see more than 40 volumes, across the full spectrum of our core lists, to appear every year. Download a complete list of titles in print, or catalogues for 2005 through 2013, by clicking the Download menu item at the top of this page. This will take you to an intermediate page with details of the brochures available from this site, including the current catalogue for 2013, which is regularly updated.
Downloadable PDF samplers from almost all of our publications are now available from this site and can be accessed via the year pages in the menu at the top of this page (after which you should select an indidual title by clicking on the cover) or from any of the catalogues in the menu (all of which are alpha lists organised by author's name).
In addition, we make some e-chapbooks, in PDF form, available for free download from this site. At the moment 22 are available, and they can be seen by clicking on e-Books in the menu.As of summer 2013, a number of eBooks are in development for use on iPads, Nooks (and compatible devices that read ePub files) and Kindles. Initially these will cover prose and critical works, but we will move on to poetry in due course, although we are unconvinced of the demand for poetry eBooks and feel that the basic Kindle, and its variants, in particular, do poetry little justice.
