JOBS

We are asked frequently if there are any openings at Shearsman for new staff, or for trainees. Alas, there are no such openings and it is extremely unlikely that there ever will be. We operate on a shoestring, and cannot afford to pay staff — the publisher doesn't get paid either — and we operate from domestic premises which are just not set up to cope with extra staff, even if it were appropriate to do so. Should this change, then this page will be updated accordingly.

OUTSOURCING

On similar cost grounds, we also do not outsource any work from the core publishing business, including typesetting and e-Book design. Right now it costs us nothing — other than time — to do this, since the publisher doesn't get paid, and it's rather difficult for outsourcers to beat zero costs. We're happy with our printers, with whom we have been working since 2003. We do outsource some of the accounting work, and, once again, are more than happy with our current arrangements.

COVER DESIGNS

We can't afford to pay for designers, so unless you're in a generous mood, it's probably a waste of time pitching your design and/or illustration work to us.
