William Lewis (U.K.)

 Richard at 80

Richard was instrumental in taking the Medway Poets (I was one of six poets in that group) to a wider audience when he invited us to read at The Cambridge International Poetry Festival in 1981. Over the years he has praised, encouraged and endorsed my writing and I am sure I would not have become the poet I am today without him. His work has a seriousness and intellectual scope which are rarely found in British literature. I am eternally grateful for his generosity, mentorship and friendship. I wish him well in this next chapter of his life.
